A Sure Thing

I have to confess that this is not really a thought that came to me while I was running. I am actually laying in the bed waiting on the rain to pass. This morning's YouVersion verse of the day was this: *[[Mat 7:8]] KJV* For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. As I was writing that verse out to meditate on it, the thought came...."If you were ever looking for a sure thing, this is it!" If we knew we would win the lottery, wouldn't we pay the $2 at the gas station for the card (I actually have no idea what they cost)? If we knew the stock market wouldn't crash, wouldn't we invest? Actually, most of what we do in life is a big "gamble". We really don't know for sure that the actions we take will bring about the results that we would like. But if we have a promise like..."for everyone who asketh receiveth" coming from a God who CANNOT lie, why would we not pray, tru...

Thinking Small

When my now 15-yr old daughter was younger, she had a few career aspirations that would make moms everywhere gasp.  At one point she said that she wanted to be a waitress.  Another time, quite boldly, she proclaimed to her grandmother that she wanted to "be the worker at the trash dump, because he gets to sit inside his little house all day and watch TV."  Probably the most scandalous was the time she dressed up like a hobo, brought a yard chair and her cup to the kitchen and proclaimed that she was "the people in front of Walmart who sell money".  Translation - she wanted to be one of the people outside of Walmart who asked for donations.  Sigh.....my teacher's heart just died a little here 😂 But, what if she was on to something.... "Think small" .....this is most certainly NOT what we tell our children as they as they step foot into kindergarten.  We tell them, "You can be anything!  Be a doctor, get into the NBA, be a lawyer, be President ...
